Conduct

As a cooperative group, we are all excited to have a wonderful weekend together! In order to maintain the fun, safety, and fairness of the game, we have policies that must be followed and enforced. We genuinely believe that those of you who attend any game with the Wyvern Group LLC would not maliciously break any of these policies. If, however, you do see an enforced policy being broken, please immediately notify a Staff Member or Director so it can be handled. Do not take matters into your own hands.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Excessively arguing with a Rules Marshal, Staff Member, Director, or failing to cooperate with Wyvern Group LLC staff, spewing insults at the Staff or other players, and other forms of personally abusive conduct that breach the spirit of sportsmanship at the game, can be punished with disciplinary action including and up to removal from the game for a suspension period. If you return and continue this behavior, you will be permanently banned from any games run by Wyvern Group LLC. The Staff Members and Directors of Wyvern Rising, Colony Alpha, and the Wyvern Group LLC reserve the right to deem an offense so severe that it could skip the earlier stage of violation and immediately provide a permanent ban from the organization.

Character Naming

A player may not take the name of an established fictional character, or real-world political figure or celebrity. At any time a Staff Member or Director can disapprove the use of a name based on this policy.

In Game Symbolism

There are a few skills a character can obtain in game that require a personal symbol to be used in their execution. These symbols must be approved by a Staff Member or Director prior to debut. Any offensive, religious, copyrighted, and/or blatantly out of game symbols will be denied. The Staff and Directors of Wyvern Group LLC reserve the right at any time to deny a symbol they feel would be detrimental to the game environment.

Meta Gaming

Anytime that you use IG (in game) information that you know or found out while OOG (out of game), but your character does not know this information in game, you are meta gaming. Any player found to be meta gaming will be treated as if they were cheating and will disciplined as such. (See: Skill and Card Cheating)

Skill Cheating

If you call or use a skill, spell, or other ability that you do not have written on your card, or if you monstrously overspend Body, Armor, Presence, Endurance, Dexterity, Gather Power slots, Piety slots, or under-calculate the Damage you have taken in combat, you will receive a warning written on your card and the action(s) will be reversed. Should you repeat this behavior after the first warning, your character will fall dead, the action reversed, and you will be suspended from the game for 3 events. Should you then return, and repeat this behavior, you will be banned permanently from any game under the Wyvern Group LLC banner.

Card Cheating

Anytime that an appropriate PC card or item tag can’t be provided by a player as proof of skills or abilities with respect to a possible cheating accusation, the player will be given a written warning notated on their card and the action will be reversed. If after the first warning, the situation is found to be repeated, your character will fall dead, the action reversed, and you will be suspended from the game for 3 events. Should you then return, and repeat this behavior, you will be permanently banned from any game under the Wyvern Group LLC banner.

NPC Duty

Every Wyvern Group LLC player is required to fulfill a three-hour NPC shift. This NPC shift must be fulfilled regardless of what other tasks are performed at an event. There are a few exceptions, which you will be notified of by a Staff Member or Director if the exemption is applicable to you, but anyone not given a specific exemption has an obligation to perform a three-hour NPC shift. Failure to do so will result in any skills learned during the month to be forgotten, and 0 earned build for the event.

You are expected to arrive at Logistics on time and be ready to accept NPC roles immediately. If you arrive late, you will stay late to meet your mandatory 3 hours.

Clean-Up Assignment

Every Wyvern Group LLC player has an obligation to clean up his or her sleeping area at the end of an event as well as complete their post event cleaning task, assigned at check-in by a Staff Member or  Director. After fulfilling this obligation, you must have your card signed by a Rules Marshal, Staff Member, or Director to indicate completion. Failure to complete a clean up assignment will result in any skills learned during the month to be forgotten, and 0 build earned for the event.

Combat

Combat at any game under the Wyvern Group LLC banner is a privilege, not a right. If you inappropriately strike someone with excessive force or violate our combat rules in any way, you will receive a single warning, added to your character card. Your next offense will remove latex weapon privileges, and your last offense will remove combat privileges from your character for 1 year, to be reevaluated after that time. Should you violate our combat rules a final time, you will have your combat privileges* permanently revoked.

The Staff Members and Directors of Wyvern Rising, Colony Alpha, and the Wyvern Group LLC reserve the right to deem an offense so severe that it could skip one or more of the earlier stages of violations.

**“Combat privileges” are defined as participating in any combat using a ranged or melee weapon, but not including the casting of spells through the use of spell packets.

Combat Rules

All games under the Wyvern Group LLC banner are ‘lightest touch’, meaning that you should not be swinging any harder than it takes for an aware individual to notice they are being struck. You must clearly and loudly call your damage with each swing, and you may not swing faster than you are able to declare your damage. Your weapon should be swinging back at a 90 degree angle between each strike. You cannot deal damage and are not allowed to strike someone in their head or groin. While defending with your weapon, if you make contact with an opponent’s strike before the blow hits your body, it is considered ‘Blocked’ and the Damage is not taken.

Non-Combat Rules

If you have a physical limitation that requires you to not participate in combat, please alert a Staff Member or Director as soon as possible, so we can make accommodations. You will be asked to wear an orange vest over your costuming to indicate to all players and NPC’s that you are not to be struck with any weapons. Should you be in a group of players, you are considered ‘safe’ in a combat scenario and cannot be killed. If you are caught alone while non-combat by an individual who wishes your character ill will, they will walk up to you, and declare that you are defeated. You cannot defend, and your character is dead. If they choose instead to “capture” your character, you will walk with that individual (or individuals) to where they dictate.

Role-Playing Violation

If you disrupt the IG atmosphere through loud and blatant OOG discussion or behavior you will receive a written warning on your character card, as well as the inability to gain role playing points for the weekend. Should you continue this behavior, your second offense and any offenses found after will result in the loss of build for the weekend.

Smoking

At Wyvern Rising, smoking must be done outside of buildings and ONLY in the designated smoking areas of the camp, which are advised during Opening Ceremonies. If you miss Opening Ceremonies or need a refresher, please see a Rules Marshal, Staff Member, or Director and they will advise. Any smoker who discards their cigarette butts inappropriately on the ground will be made to pick up all cigarette butts found throughout the camp in addition to their cleanup duty. Any smoker who is found to be smoking indoors or outside of the designated smoking areas (without the express consent of a Staff Member or Director), will receive a written warning on their character card. The second offense and any offense thereafter will result in a loss of earned build for the event.

Alcohol

Alcoholic beverages of any kind are prohibited at any game in the Wyvern Group LLC umbrella. Anyone found with alcoholic beverages or found to be intoxicated at an event will receive a permanent expulsion from Wyvern Group LLC games as well as a report made to the proper authorities. We play at a State Park, alcohol is prohibited, and inebriation can be dangerous.

Drugs

The possession or use of illegal drugs will result in the player being immediately removed from the campsite. The offender will be permanently expelled from every game under the Wyvern Group LLC banner and the proper authorities will be notified of the situation.

Out of Game Violence

Absolutely NO real life violence is permitted at any event under the Wyvern Group LLC banner. Anyone expressing real life physical, and in some cases verbal, violence will be immediately removed from the campsite and may be suspended between three months or indefinitely depending upon the severity of the offense. The proper authorities will be notified.

General Inappropriate Behavior

Wyvern Group LLC reserves the right to punish – either by a written warning or suspension or expulsion from the game – any personal conduct that is inappropriate in the eyes of the Staff or Directors.

Sexual Harassment

Wyvern Group LLC has a zero tolerance stand on sexual harassment. If you are found to be guilty of unwelcome sexual advances, lewd or disrespectful comments, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature, you will be permanently banned from any game under the Wyvern Group LLC banner. We are an inclusive and welcoming organization, and want ALL of our players regardless of gender identity or sexual preferences to feel safe. If you violate or intend to violate that, we do not want you involved with this group in any way.

Personal Space

During the height of a combat encounter or intense role-playing, you may find yourself in a situation where you wish to physically touch another person. Whether it is to grab their arm, put your hand on their shoulder, or any other form of contact that you may deem harmless and non-violent, you must first ask the individual if it is alright to touch them- ‘Do you consent to physical contact?”  We respect everyone’s personal space and never want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. If you lay your hands on an individual without asking first if it is alright, and they report this to a Staff Member or Director, you will receive a written warning on your character card. After 3 warnings, you will be suspended from the game for 3 events. If you return and continue to breach the personal space of other players without consent, you will be permanently banned from all games under the Wyvern Group LLC banner.
