COMBAT AND WEAPONS
Q ::Are there "safe zones" on the body other than the head or groin, such as the hand/wrist, where you should not take damage if struck there?
A :: No! A common misconception is that there are other safe zones, on one's person that do not count. I will further clarify that head includes the throat. Strikes to the hand and wrist DO count. Generally assume that if the weapon hits you, that you must take the damage...mind you, the 90 degree rule does not always apply, as thrusts are also allowed. A good rule of thumb is that the time between attacks should be at about 1 full second (1 mississippi can be a long time). If you are being hit/striking faster than you can call/understand your damage it shouldn't count. Just as Machine Gun strikes do not count, neither do Machine Gun blocks, and simply tapping your opponents boffer constantly does not make you immune to their damage.
Q :: Does Break Weapon work on arrows?
A :: You do not need the skill Break Weapon to break an arrow. Quivers are assumed to have an unlimited number of arrows such that breaking one only has a roleplaying effect.
Q :: How can I restrain someone ?
A :: In combat only two skills, Subdue and Incapacitate, may be used to restrain an individual. Outside of combat a Strength +1 skill/ability/spell may also be used (provided the target has less strength than the would-be detainer).
Q :: Can I use the skill Trip with my bow ?
A :: Yes.

ARMOR
Q:: What does armor have to be made of?
A:: The phys-rep for armor should actually be the same type of material that you are being awarded points for. There may be some specific situations where we allow a close substitute (vinyl to represent leather), but in general the armor must be real. That is not to say it necessarily has to be expensive. A homemade breastplate fashioned from a metal garbage can or something is fine as long as it is safe.
Q:: Is there a way to kill someone without damaging their armor?
A:: There are certain skills (Pierce Armor, Piercing Strike, Mortal Wound, Assassinate) that can be employed to bypass armor and cause direct Body damage. These types of attacks do no damage to armor. Certain prayers and spells work in a similar way. But, aside from these specialized attacks, armor is always destroyed before an individual takes Body damage.
Q :: When calculating total Armor Points does one round up or down?
A :: You round down.

Magic
Q :: What skill do you need to make Runes of Focus?
A :: A rune of focus needs to be Inscribed, just like any other rune (with the skill "Inscribe Rune") on an item that is refined (with the skill "Refine Object").
Q :: How do 'spell-slinging' mages work?
A :: Regular spell-slinging mages do not have to carry their spellbook with them. They have "memorized" the spells in their spell slots so they do not need to read over them to cast them. The only time a spell-slinging mage would need her spellbook is when the period changes over. At that point they must 'memorize' the spells they wish to use in the new period.
Q :: How does a Rune of Focus work when casting a spell?
A :: You must hold the item that your rune of focus is on (for example, a wand) in your hand when you cast a spell. If you have the rune on jewelry then you don't need to hold it because it is touching your skin.
Q :: Can Burning Hands be used to passively (without hitting them with boffer claws) inflict damage on a restrained individual?
A :: No, Burning Hands must be used in conjunction with boffer claws in order to cause damage.
Q :: Can I imbue a rune by ritual casting, or do I need to memorize the spell first?
A :: Ritual casting may be used to imbue a rune, as long as you meet all the requirements to ritually cast the spell. Back to Top
Healing
Q ::When using First Aid, when does the recipient get 1 Body?
A :: The recipient must wait until the end of the three minutes to regain 1 Body. During this time the death count is paused. Until then they are effectively at 0 Body.

Roguery
Q :: Can I pick the same persons pocket multiple times?
A :: Yes. However, you may only insert one Pick Pocket token at a time. You may do this as frequently as you have the opportunity. Back to Top
NPCing
Q:: What exactly does one do when they play an NPC?
A:: An NPC (Non-Player Character) can be anything from a monster, to an animal, to a townsperson, to whatever the game directors happen to need at that time. Sometimes an NPC may be tasked to help set up or clean up props. In short an NPC performs various basic duties in addition to role-playing. The game directors will let you know what needs to be done. Each player will be required to perform approx 2-3 hours of NPC service during an event weekend. Events that affect a character you play as an NPC have not impact on your PC (Player Character.)
Q:: What do I gain from being an NPC?
A:: NPC’ing provides several opportunities. First, if you spend an entire weekend as an NPC, you get 1 Build and 1 Event Credit plus the opportunity to earn role-playing and service points. You also get valuable experience in playing many various roles. As you NPC more often and the game directors recognize your skills, you may be given more prominent or important roles. Back to Top
Skills
Q :: If I allocate more DEX than was actually required to Disarm a trap, do I have to give up all of my allocated DEX, or just what was required?
A :: You must put all of your allocated DEX into the envelope. Sometimes this may seem like overkill, but it does represent the efforts expended.
